StableWeather Privacy Policy

This policy explains how SmeliStudios handles information in the StableWeather app. It is written for the current StableWeather 1.0 release candidate.

Who Provides The App

StableWeather is published by SmeliStudios. For privacy or support questions, contact smelistudio@gmail.com.

Data Stored On Your Device

StableWeather stores app data locally on your device. This may include:

Horse profiles, including name, breed, clipping, age, body condition, living situation, shelter and temperature sensitivity.
Rug inventory, including fill weight, waterproofing and optional rug photos.
Stable name, stable label and saved stable coordinates.
Weather forecast cache, including provider, fetch time, expiry and forecast values used for recommendations.
Recommendation history.
Selected horse, language and notification settings.
User-created backup files when you choose to export them.

The current StableWeather app does not provide accounts, cloud sync or a SmeliStudios-operated user database.

Weather Requests And Location

StableWeather uses saved stable coordinates to request weather forecasts. Swedish coordinates use SMHI Open Data first. Non-Swedish coordinates use MET Norway. If SMHI is unavailable for a Swedish coordinate, StableWeather may try MET Norway for that refresh.

Weather requests include the saved latitude and longitude for the stable. These providers may also receive ordinary network metadata such as IP address and request time. StableWeather does not send horse names, horse profiles, rug inventory, rug photos or recommendation history with weather requests.

Native app builds can use platform location services to resolve a searched place or current location into the internal forecast point. Web preview builds can fall back to Open-Meteo and Nominatim geocoding for typed place search. Photon, Visual Crossing and OpenWeather are not used in the current normal resolver.

You can choose to fill stable coordinates from your current device location. This uses foreground location permission only when you ask for it. StableWeather does not use background location tracking.

Weather lookups use the saved coordinate values for the stable. In the current implementation, SMHI requests use coordinates rounded to 6 decimal places and MET Norway requests use coordinates rounded to 4 decimal places.

Backups

Backup export and import are user-initiated. Export creates a readable JSON backup through the operating system's sharing or file flow. Import reads the backup file you select through the system document picker. StableWeather does not scan unrelated files.

Backup files are controlled by you after export. If a backup includes rug photos or sensitive stable details, handle it like any other private file.

Analytics, Ads, Tracking And Accounts

The current StableWeather app contains no analytics SDK, advertising SDK, crash-reporting SDK, telemetry service, push notification service, account system or StableWeather backend. StableWeather does not sell personal data.

Standard app-store or operating-system diagnostics may still be governed by the platform and your device settings rather than StableWeather. This website uses GoatCounter for lightweight aggregate page analytics; that is separate from the StableWeather app.

Notifications

Notifications are optional and off by default. StableWeather uses local notification scheduling in the app. It does not send push notification tokens to a SmeliStudios server in the current release.

Deleting Data And Retention

Local app data remains on your device until you edit it, clear app storage through the operating system, or uninstall the app. Exported backup files remain wherever you saved or shared them and must be deleted separately by you.

Children's Privacy

StableWeather is intended as a practical tool for horse owners and carers. It is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect children's personal information through an account or backend service.

Third-Party Weather Providers

StableWeather links to provider information so you can review their terms and privacy information directly. SmeliStudios does not control those third-party services and does not make unsupported claims about how long they retain network logs.

Changes To This Policy

SmeliStudios may update this policy when StableWeather changes, when providers change, or when legal requirements change. The last updated date above will be changed when this page is updated.
